Year 1/2

This term, our Year 1 and 2 children have been busy exploring, learning, and having fun in Forest School! They’ve combined science with outdoor adventure, discovering what makes something living or non-living and sorting natural items into groups. The children loved standing in the “living” circle themselves—it sparked lots of laughter and great conversations!

We’ve explored how nature changes through the seasons, creating beautiful art from fallen leaves and learning that many things were once alive but are no longer. The children became nature detectives, finding examples of living things and things that used to be living.

Science came to life as they built wormeries, discussing what worms need to survive, and later created tree faces using natural materials. Creativity and teamwork were at the heart of every session, from leaf art and deer hunts to climbing and exploring.

One of the highlights was building a bug hotel, where the children worked together to create different layers for their tiny guests. These activities have helped develop teamwork, problem-solving, and a deeper understanding of the natural world—all while having lots of fun!

We’re so proud of their enthusiasm and the confidence they’ve shown outdoors. Forest School has truly been an adventure!
